Dream Wedding

“Love recognizes no barriers. It jumps hurdles, leaps fences, penetrates walls to arrive at its destination full of hope.” – Maya Angelou. I’ve been dreaming of my wedding and falling in love since I was young. Who I would marry, what the ceremony would look like, who would attend, who’s wearing what, etc! I can’t wait to fall in love. Giving your heart and soul to a single (or multiple) person. I believe a marriage requires time and effort for it to flourish. Love is full of forgiveness and becoming a team. Marriage isn’t 50-50 it's 100-100. If you don’t both put in 100% then it’s not going to work in my eyes. That’s why I’m so excited for my wedding day and planning it around the love of my life.

Beginning Information

I want to be married in nature, preferably near or in the woods. Nearby a pond or lake, willow trees swinging in the breeze. Blossoms falling onto the ground. Late spring or early summer starts around noon, in May or June, Saturday. I’m not sure how many people I want attending my wedding but I want my closest family and friends. My aesthetic is very natural/bohemian. So I want to keep on that and have that flow throughout the wedding. I don’t have a set color for the wedding, anywhere from nudes, yellows, blues, and greens if not all four of those colors.

Our invites will include a picture of me and my fiance, info page, rsvp/song request, and envelope stamped shut with wax. It will look something like this but open up/unfold. But first I have to tell my bridesmaids and maid of honor! I will be sending them a box with a balloon in it stating pop me. Once popped, sparkles and a notes will appear with the question “Will you be my bridesmaid(maid of honor)?” This will be a cute surprise for my friends!

Bridal and Bachelor Party

Picking my maid of honor and bridesmaids is something I’ve always been excited for. For my bridesmaids dress I want something very boho and not matchy matchy, something like this. I like this color palette for the dresses though. For the groomsmen a similar color palette, in this style. But what about the bachelor bachelorette party? During the day the bachelorette party and bachelor party will be separate. For the girls an at home spa day full of massages, manicures, pedicures, Polaroids, games, drinks, food, then shopping until dinner time. A joint party will start at 6pm including a bbq, music, games, and drinks.

The Look

My ideal dress for my wedding would be a flowy a-line or sheath shape, short to long sleeves, with a hint of lace, beading, or petals/vines, and a short train. It’s hard to imagine what you think you want your perfect dress to look like, finding it, then trying it on. It may not look flattering in person, something might just be off. So it’s good to have an open mind and not set on one specific style or look. I have a very open mind when it comes down to my dress. But these are the aspects of a wedding dress I love for myself as of right now! A long veil matching the dress would fit my ideas as well. My bouquet of wildflowers and baby's breath. And of course a gorgeous slipper for the ceremony and dinner (seeing as we’re on grass) but as for the dance floor? Let me grab the perfect wedding heel to match my dress!

I’m not quite sure if I want to hire a makeup artist or do it myself (after all, people hire me to do their makeup wedding). I want a soft glam look but enough for my freckles to shine through! My hair, a natural red, I know I will be hard to miss on my wedding day. Three small braids to keep my hair out of my face falling into loose waves, smaller flowers or vines weaved into it. Like I said, a bohemian / natural feel to the look will have me fit right into my theme! I hope my significant other sheds a tear of joy as they see me walk down the aisle.

Ceremony

“With this ring I give you my heart, I promise from this day forward, you shall not walk alone, may my heart be your shelter, and may my arms be your home.” Once this fateful day comes, I will be filled with such joy I'll be physically glowing! The ceremony will take place in nature, surrounded by trees in the mid afternoon. Before you sit there will be a bug spray and petal bar so when we are married, instead of rice you throw dried petals/recycled leaves! Wooden chairs set up enough for our invited guests. The aisle is just simple cut grass but where we stand, a bohemian style rug, a wooden altar/arch lined with wildflowers of all colors which will match my bouquet.

Then there’s the ring. Another thing I’ve been dreaming of for years. This is my perfect ring. I would also love something engraved on the inside from my significant other! The rings will be carried in a small box filled with flowers. I can’t wait till the day I am asked to be married, knowing someone loves you that much?! Ahhhh! Makes my heart flutter just thinking about it! But back to the ceremony! After we say our I Do’s, we will be whisked away with our party off to take pictures. The guests, cocktail hour, only yards away is the reception.

Wedding Pictures

These are the pictures that will last the rest of your life and you will have to look back on until the end. Reminiscing on being deeply in love when you’re back to being alone, after years with the one you married. These pictures signify our love, eternally. As cheesy as that sounds. Some ideas I liked were;

Decor and Details

Like before, my aesthetic is very natural/bohemian. Plants, lights, tents, rugs, wood, glass, etc. The reception will be held just a few hundred yards from where the ceremony was. The path you take to get there will be lined with lights leading to the reception area. Here, there’s a clearing for a tent and the rest of the set up. When you enter the tent there will be the guestbook but instead of simply signing a piece of paper, I would love for guests to sign a large wooden letter. Whatever the letter of my future last name will be! Under the off-white tent are wooden seats and tables for the guests and people of honor. The tables will have off-white tablecloths and have a rustic/vintage feel to the centerpieces. I would love an open wooden bar for guests to order their drinks from too! For the kids table there will be activities for them to do to keep them focused and occupied.

The tent will be open so that the outdoor activities can be easily accessible. In the surrounding trees wrapped around the trunk will be photos of the couple. As well as a remembrance tree for those who have passed away and couldn’t be there for the wedding. Outside the tent, a blanket station! This will be accessible to all guests who get chilly once night falls! Under the large tree nearby will be an outdoor dance floor entirely made up of old bohemian style rugs! I thought this was unique and I would love to do something similar! Here people can dance the night away to a wedding playlist I put together.

Menu

I want a simple light menu. The first course includes a spring mix salad; spinach, baby kale, cherry tomatoes, avocado, and your choice of dressing. The entrée; grilled beef tenderloin with mushroom sauce, grilled boneless chicken with red pepper coulis, or fresh grilled salmon served with a lemon dill sauce. Dessert; wedding cake with fruit and a dessert bar! For the wedding cake, I really love the look of naked cakes! Something along the line of this. Just writing about this menu makes my mouth water!

Activities

I don’t want people falling asleep at their tables all night, I want guests having a night to remember! Disposable cameras will be set out near the entrance with instructions to take pictures for the couple and return them so we can get them developed after the wedding! Some outdoor activities like Janga, lawn tik-tak-toe darts, ring toss, corn hole, and more! Here guests can play games during cocktail hour and after dinner. As well as a fire pit with s'mores! With these extra activities, our guests will have a night to remember!

Happily Ever After

“Love doesn’t mean you will always agree, see eye to eye, or never have an argument. It means despite the bad days you still can’t see yourself without that person.” Marriage won’t be easy, but if you’re in so am I. Who knows? Maybe my future significant other is reading this right now.
